Park Photos
Since I have been so happy to have my blog and camera both working, I made the girls go out for a little photo shoot. It's time, it's been a while.

Peaceful time
This morning we got up and took Bridget to a tumbling practice for an upcoming meet she will be in. Becca would rather tag along with me than stay home I guess. When we got home, Bridget went up to her room to draw and watch tv alone. Becca disappeared in the playroom. I think it is so cute how she will sit and play sometimes. She likes small things. The little toys from McDonald's, Littlest Pet Shops, and Polly Pockets...stuff like that.

At school, Becca is making some friends of her own. She knows a lot of third graders from going to Brownie meetings with Bridget, but now that she is going to school there, she is getting to know kids her own age. Bridget has a friend named Riley, they were in the same first grade class and are together again this year. Riley has a sister named Reagan, and she is in class this year with Becca. Having these four girls together makes for perfect playtime! I brought all four girls home from school yesterday and they pair up and do their thing. It was interesting to watch the way they behave. The older girls are what I would call happy-go-lucky. Just, go with the flow and enjoy things. Bridget is more like this than Becca in general. Becca is harder to please just in general with everything and I noticed this with Reagan too. While they were here, we went over to the park. Bridget and Riley enjoyed the playground and tree climbing, while Becca and Reagan were busy getting filthy in the sand. They made sand angels and sand beds.

More vacation
Schaun keeps asking if I am going to finish blogging about our vacation. I'm not going to go day-by-day as I first intended, but here are some of the highlights.
Seeing the giant mall was cool and amazing, but my favorite part of the trip was something a bit more natural. We went to Minehaha Park and saw this beautiful waterfall. I loved it! While we were in the park, they had these odd bike things to rent. It was actually a tri-cycle with two sets of pedals with two seats for the folks to pedal and a back row seat for the free loading riders. We oddly thought it would fun to rent one and ride around the park. In reality, it was a lot of work to pedal around the two girls that as I realized are just over 100 pounds together now. After we quickly and gladly turned that torture machine back in, we walked around the waterfall area and enjoyed it on foot.
This same day, we traveled around on the light rail system in the city. It was great. I am a fan of good public transportation. I would gladly give up driving and use a system like they have. We rode to the park first and when we finished there, we got back on and continued our travels to the shopping district in Minneapolis. We ate lunch at Hell's Kitchen and walked the area a while. We didn't shop, except for some candy in this old fashioned candy store. We got back on the train and headed back toward the Mall where our car was parked. When we returned to the car we discovered a very flat tire. That was great fun getting fixed. Once the spare was on, it needed some air in it. We had to hunt down a gas station for air to discover the valve stem was broken and we could not get air in. In the end, a nice young guy helped us out by staying late working on our tires. We missed dinner and everybody was getting cranky, but we returned to the hotel and let the girls swim and they were all happy again.
Even though we do not have to go on vacation to swim, that is what they loved the most I think. Well, Bridget loved the rides, but I think Becca liked the pool time best.

Funny
Dang! I forgot how much I like to blog and record the funny things that go on around me.
Last night we were all sitting around watching Jonas LA and Schaun told the girls that he used to be a rock star. They didn't believe him for a second and told him so. He tried again, he said that he really was long ago and that I was a big fan of his. Bridget said that she knew this was not true because when he sings in the shower, she sees my face and she doesn't think I like it.

First Day of 2010-2011 School Year
Yes, I know, I have neglected my blog. It was so bad that I didn't even remember how to log into the site anymore. When I got back in, the whole system has been updated and I had to change things up a bit. I am going to make an effort to stay current, but for now, I'm going back.
Here are some pics from the first day of school this year.
The girls are going to the same school now. Bridget is in third grade and Becca is in first. They both love their teachers. This year is going so much better than last year. Second grade was such a terrible year that I am already dreading it next year for Becca! Bridget's teacher has been teaching for some time and she gives me the impression that she is not into the crazy new stuff the school wants her to do. Becca's teacher is young, energetic, loving, but yet, strict enough. Becca needs to be kept in line or she will take advantage of weak adults. Yep, that is true!
We are keeping very busy during the week. We go to 5 hours of dance, 1 hour of cheerleading, 1 hour of math tutor, and some weeks have girl scouts too. We do all those activities on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays! On Thursdays we come home and collapse! Not really, but it is nice to sit down and eat as a family at the end of the week.
I am not working at the montessori school anymore. They were not being very cooperative when it came to letting me have days off for field trips and parties, the important stuff I hate to miss. So I am keeping myself busy being the Girl Scout coordinator for the school and a Brownie leader for 13 third graders. I accepted a position on the PTO board and I am a very official sounding VP2.

Vacation Day One
We decided to actually take a trip this year. I wanted to go to St. Louis. Schaun wanted to go to Colorado. I didn't want to go to Colorado. Schaun didn't want to go to St. Louis.
Schaun suggested that we go to Silver Dollar City and Branson then head to St. Louis. I still wasn't thrilled, but we are compromising right? Then when it comes time to actually book hotels and such, I decide I would rather stay home then visit Silver Dollar City in this heat. We did this a couple years ago and all I remember is the sweat.
Schaun then tells me about his last plan. He thinks we will have a good time going to the Mall of America. I was skeptical about going to a Mall for vacation, but it was a good time when it was all over.
We stayed in a great hotel, Staybridge Suites. It was like a little apartment with a kitchen and bedroom. They had shuttle service to the Mall of America and that was nice until we realized the very odd hours it ran on. We arrived Sunday, much earlier than we expected to. (This is due to Schaun driving like a Nascar racer on the way up). So first thing we did after dropping off our bags was to head to the Mall and check it out.
Monday we spent the day at the Mall in Nickelodeon World and the Aquarium. This indoor amusement park inside the mall really has something on Disney parks when it is hot outside. Rides, air-conditioning, and no lines. It would have been so fun IF Becca had wanted to have fun. She decided AFTER we bought her ticket that this was not for her and she didn't want to ride. Bridget loved it a lot though. In the Mall is also an aquarium. It is amazing that this place is so huge! The aquarium was very cool. You walk thru these tunnels and have sharks, giant turtles, sting rays, and all sorts of huge fish swimming over your head and next to you. They had a cool jellyfish display and many seahorses! Bridget had my camera in there as I didn't think any pics would turn out with the glass, but she got some good shots!
The pictures are all mixed up, but a couple are us in front of the hotel. A couple are shots of Nick World from the top of the Ferris wheel. The Aquarium, a shot of the QVC store for my mom and the silver things are the escalators. I have a photo of the girls with every character that was walking around in the park. They thought that was so cool and funny. This is the first day.

Becca says
Becca is my ornery, stubborn child. She does not fear consequences. She knows them, weighs them, and then decides if "it" is worth the risk. She has been pushing the limits with us though. We have been tougher on her lately. She is feeling the pressure to modify her actions and words, and doesn't like it.
Almost every evening we go outside and hang out in the driveway and cul-de-sac. Last night we had only been out for a few minutes when Becca decided to be a bit ornery to Bridget. Bridget chastised her for the action and Becca proceeded to her famous pout mode in return. She was slowly coming my way with a very unhappy face and informed me that things in her life were not going all the great. I suggested that maybe she should think about her actions and words and notice how they make others feel.That she needs to think about how they would make her feel. There was a little pause on her part and I had a silly little moment when I thought I might have gotten my point across. Nope.
Her response was......."Maybe I am not the right kid for you."
I didn't know to laugh or cry at that statement. So I just stared at her dumbfounded, with a gaping mouth, thinking how scared I am of the teenage version of this child.
