Picture Day

We went to Portrait Innovations and had Bridget's 5 year old photos take today. She is in this stage where she sees a camera and puts on this fake smile that looks like she is in pain. We did get a few good ones and I will post them later. For now, here are some photos from playing outside today and some I like better than the ones I just paid for. The whole day and only one photo of Becca. She didn't want her picture taken and she made sure that it didn't happen.

A budding photographer

Okay. Bridget got the coveted Fisher Price digital camera for her birthday. I admit I have not been on the ball about downloading her photos, but I did do it this morning. Let me just say, there were several of the ceiling or the floor, but she had some really good ones too! People seem to let loose when she is behind the camera.

Ahhhhhh

This weather is so fantastic! Yesterday I took the girls to Antioch Park. What a great place that is! They have wonderful jungle gyms with that cool squishy stuff as ground under it and they have this little "city" for the kids to play in. It is a row of little building that are painted different, like a bank, a school, a town hall. The girls had so much fun. We played there for about and hour and a half. There were quite a few kids there too but there is so much to play on there were no squabbles.

I didn't have my camera yesterday, but this morning we went out and shot a few photos! I got some action shots of Bridget dancing and Becca, she is just silly all the time.

Birthday Photos

Bridget is FIVE

It is hard to believe, but it is true! Five! Wow. I have to say the whole five year old thing is freaking me out a little bit. I think it is mostly because of Kindergarten. It just seems too soon to send her off to a school with all the big kids around. I really don't like that idea. I have found a way around that for now though. We are going to keep her enrolled at the Montessori school. They offer private Kindergarten. Even though it costs an arm and a a leg, it is worth every penny.

We always have a theme for birthdays. This year Bridget wanted Barbie as Princess Genevieve from the movie "the 12 Dancing Princesses". We had the regular attendees of aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins. Schaun and I didn't want to prepare anything, so we ordered some trays of food. That just makes things so easy!

We ordered Bridget a really pretty Barbie cake. There was an actual whole Barbie in the cake! Bridget got some new clothes that she really needed , a watch, (thankfully) just a few toys, and she got the elusive Fisher-Price digital camera! It is so much fun. I'll have to download her photos and post some here.

ELEVEN

Eleven is the number of people that were at my house on Sunday that were sick Monday or Tuesday.

Super contagious sick germs are what you leave with from my parties I guess. Kristin told me next year she would prefer a goodie bag.

This must have been one hell of a germ. It's not like we were all sharing cups, plates and swapping spit for goodness sake. It was a 5 year olds birthday party. It must have been air born.

Bridget funny

We were outside getting the mail.
A bird flew over making a loud bird sound.
Bridget proceeds to start running across the yard going......

"CAW, CAW, CAW. Mom-- I speak bird"

What's going on around here

I have been very busy with some family obligations. My gramma has not been well and I have been helping out my mom and aunt a little bit. Gramma has been moved to a nursing home for the time. Se is technically there for rehab, but whether or not she will remain a resident is still up in he air.

Today, I am getting together with my life-long bestest friend Norma. She only lives about 30 minutes away but for some reason, I have not seen here in about a year! That is just terrible. She has 2 daughters that are each a year older than Bridget and Becca. We are going to Crown Center for a kids interactive exhibit today. Should be fun (except for the stupid rain).

Then it will be back here to clean more. Bridget will be 5 on Monday! Did you hear that--FIVE!!!! The five year thing is freaking me out a bit. Suddenly she seems so big!

We are having the annual family party tomorrow here at our house. Bridget is so excited! She loves birthdays! I honestly do not know where we will put any more toys though.

Weekend fun!

This weekend I met some of my friends and we had a scrapbooking retreat. We stayed at a nice hotel suite and set up our tables and got to work. I stayed up way too late both nights, but I got to sleep in--and that is exciting for me.

I got a lot done too. There was a lot of laughing--lots and lots of laughing.

Some of us did a Valentine's sweetie swap. The super talented Lisa had my name. She gave me the most beautiful canvas creation. I'll get a picture on here in a bit.

Bridget

I think my soon to be 5 year old has been possessed by a teenager. I swear that she is a 15 year stuck in that 5 year old body. The stuff she says to me blows my mind and makes me fuming mad at the same time. Maybe she will mellow as a teenager? Is that possible? I know, I know....I'm dreaming.

Do you want to see more Sawyer?

These were my favorites of the "few" I took today. The one of the new parents changing the diaper cracks me up! All that fuss over a diaper change.

I got to visit him

The roads are cleared up a bit now. It is still so so cold! On the way out there the radio said it was 5 degrees out. That poor baby is not going to like leaving the hospital. I mean you go from mommy's warm insides, to the semi-warm hospital room to FIVE degrees outside--Yikes! That is a shock to the system.

Sawyer Douglas Greenwood

My sister in law, Amy lives close to the hospital, so she got to see Sawyer and she got some photos of his cuteness!

I have a new nephew!

I am so sad that the weather is so icy and dangerous and I cannot get to the hospital. My sister delivered Sawyer Douglas tonight at 8:15. He was big, coming in at 8 lbs 1 oz and 21 inches long!

Congratulations to Kristin and Mark! I can't wait to see him!

Catching Up

Well, Christmas came and went. It was a great time and we received LOTS of wonderful gifts. Christmas Eve we had dinner at Pam and Dan's. The girls, especially Becca enjoyed the evening. Becca was so happy because she didn't have to share the toys with her cousin Kynzie. (That's the Christmas spirit, right?) Scott, Tonya, Delainey, Kynzie, and Max do other family things on Christmas Eve, so they were not there. We ate dinner earlier than in the past, which gave us more time the remainder of the evening. After watching a bit of A Christmas Story we headed out to look at some lights. The girls started getting sleepy, so we were home and had them in bed by 8:30.

Christmas morning.....Would you believe it--the girls didn't wake up until 7:30. Amazing! Every other day they have me up before 6:30. So we had to rush around and that really sucked. We saw what Santa left and opened a present, but we had to be back to Pam and Dan's by 8:30. We got there a few minutes late, but no big deal. The presents were all still there waiting for us. There was soooooooo much over there. It is like this every year, but it never ceases to amaze me. After we hung out there for a while, we made a drop at our house and headed to my mom's house. It is a little more toned down over there. We ate a bit there after gift opening, then headed back home for naps. But naps didn't happen. We spend the next four hours opening toy boxes.

Why or why do toys have to be packaged like they are? It is just horrible! All the tape and wires and the Barbie hair is sewed down. It just sucks.

Then it was time for left over dinner back over at Pam and Dan's.

We were tired when we got home, but it was fun.

I am not very good at the photo taking during these type of days. I'm too busy trying to help the girls and not really able to be taking their photos. And Bridget is just plain tired of me snapping the camera at her. She just runs off. So, I have a few and even fewer of Bridget.

(I typed this up some time ago. I still cannot get my photos to load. So you know the story, maybe someday soon I'll get some pics to go with)

My recent project

I saw this project in a magazine and I had all the things needed to make it, so I made it. It is a cute advent calender. It is just thick enough to hold those chocolate coin candies. Each of the little circles lifts up for the treat.

Playing in the Snow

It amazes me that the girls want to go out and roll around and eat the snow. It is so cold. They must be numb. As I stood and shivered, they laughed and played. Becca was much more into eating the snow than Bridget was. Bridget wanted to make snow angels and throw it all around.
